Wild Art // Phaidon

In my Wild Art book produced by Phaidon I saw an image under the heading "The big and small of art". This particular image would be that of a truly beautiful photograph that was assembled in 2003-4 by a combination of 10 years of NASA's Hubble Telescope photographs a tiny patch of the night sky. Collecting faint light over many hours of observation, this image then revealed thousands of tiny galaxies, also this includes the faintest and most distant ever seen. This is the deepest image of the Universe that has ever been taken, and as such could be considered the ultimate artwork on a monumental scale.

I truly believe that this photograph is really remarkable, when I first saw this image I was blown away by how beautiful it was. It doesn't look like a photograph to me, it looks like a painting, a beautiful painting by a very talented artist, however this is something that is in our Universe, that this is something that we can potentially see. I find that really impressive, as that this is all in our night sky and not really many people are taking the full advantage of our beautiful sky.
I am one for stargazing, looking at constellations, and Nebulae.
