Creative Narrative and Copy –
Short story/article based on ideas from newspapers and magazines:
Newspapers and magazines are a treasure trove of story ideas. Mix these news items with either incidents from my own life, or from my observations or imagination; what emerges should not be a mere re-telling of the facts but a creative shaping of the events into a story with my own unique stamp on it.
Think about the people in these news reports, too. What drove them to act in the ways that they did? What were their hopes and dreams, fears and desires? I shall create rounded characters that will add depth to my story. I had to look through newspapers and magazines, cut out photos of fascinating faces on which I shall build up my characters.
I was told to read books by authors too: not as much to copy their work, but as to see how I could use their ideas as a springboard from which I could develop my own original story.
This story should be around two sides of A4, I shall also produce a digital copy, in which spelling and grammar is checked.
Materials:
Newspapers,
Pens,
Paper,
Scissors.
HomeWork was:
Write up the copy in a digital format,
Build up the profile of my characters in my short story or article.
I should be able to build a mental picture of the characters and places where the events happen and be able to answer a series of questions about my story and of the characters.
I also have to collect visual and written references to create mood boards for the next task on this particular piece of work.
I also printed my story in a variety of point sizes and leading: 6pt, 8pt, 10pt, 12pt, and 14pt.
Then I printed it in a sans serif font, then a serif font, and a script font.
/ Celebrity Bake Off –
Jennifer awaits nervously for her judging... Dakota went first, the technical challenge this week was to create an array of bakes, which included of: Tartes au Citron, Victoria Sponge and also Scones. There has to be 12 of each, and they all have to be of the perfect size, shape and the colour of each bake has to be consistent.
Dakota awaits, the verdict from Paul and Mary who have already dived straight into her bakes. All of them, the bakes I mean were crisp and smooth, Paul said that the tarte au Citron was Dakota's best bake. Whereas, Mary was disappointed, she thought that the Sponges were the best.
As always the judges never give anything away. Up next, was a nervous quivering Jennifer Lawrence. Her bakes didn't look too appetising. They were not as pretty as Dakota's, however they had more of an artistic flair. Like that of Jackson Pollock.
As this was to be the Final of the Great British Bake Off, each contestant knew there was nothing scary about the final, each one before had been of a normal satisfactory style. This final task was that of the stunning showstopper challenge. Here, this two contestants had to create and complete this enormous task. The 'Pierce Monteé. This is the French classic of which it includes Sponge, caramel, petit fours, and also a complex choux pastry.
At the end of the five hours completion and time, ceased to exist. The two bakers rejoiced in their handwork, and in their achievements and accomplishments from the previous days' work. After walking out of the tent and seeing their families and their friends one last time.
Mary and Paul have a hard task ahead of them to determine who shall be crowned Queen, of GBBO. As they tackle the bakes, and the cakes outside, no one knows what was about to happen next. No one could have predicated it.
Mary and Paul returned back to the bakers and their groups from the tent once again, with the news that everyone and all the watchers at home had been waiting for. Mary, says the final lines... "The Winner of the Great British Bake Off is....." and then, the screen goes black. The viewers at home have no idea about what has just happened. Everyone waits with baited breath... Then a voiceover started to play out to the televisions across the nation... "I am terribly sorry to report that the Bake Off tent has been obliterated by the terrorist group ISIS, that's all for now..."
